This past weekend, we ventured upstate to Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard on a quest for some pumpkins and apple picking! Every weekend from September through the end of October, the farm hosts a Fall Festival with hayrides, live music, apple picking, delicious food and more! Since it was mid-October, most of the trees were bare already, but they had plenty of bins full of apples to pick from. Next year, we will be sure to head out earlier to pick right from the trees.
After we parked the car in which I assure you....there is PLENTY of parking, (just be prepared to wear comfortable shoes), we made our way down to the farm. Halfway through our apple picking adventure, I realized that I didn't properly delete my SD card that morning, so a lot of our photos were taken on my iPhoto. :( On top of that, our camera battery died and we had left the backup in the car. Not our best day as amateur photographers....but aside from all that, we made out with some colorful shots. All in all, Timi and I had a great time getting out of the city for the day! We made out with some delicious apples and an assortment of pumpkins!
Look at them apples!!!!
and more apples....
Timi was so cute. He was on a mission to find an apple to pick from a tree and he did it!! He was even able to find two!
Unfortunately, my vertically challenged self wasn't able to find any low enough to pick.
Along with the apples, the farm had a large array of pumpkins to choose from too. They had orange, gray and white with an assortment of gourds as well. Can't wait until we have a porch someday to decorate! I will be coming back for more!
My favorite color is orange, but in an effort to try something new, we went for the creamy white pumpkins. Hey...they look great with our new mustard yellow area rug , grey couches and emerald green pillows. Pics coming soon!
On our drive back, we stopped in Tarrytown to eat at the Rivermarket Bar and Kitchen via detour through Sleepy Hollow. Such a fun place to visit around Halloween. If you live in the city, make sure to take the time to drive upstate and really catch a glimpse of the best fall foliage in the country. The colors will take your breath away. I have spent my whole life living in all four corners of this state so I know how much beauty it has. New York is gorgeous.
